About Us
In Ottawa’s dragon boat community, there is a simple, warm, and memorable name.
JingJing.
It is more than our team name. It represents a shared story of training together, competing together, and supporting one another.
One Name, A Shared Identity
The name of the JingJing Dragon Boat Team comes from JingJing, our first team captain.
Behind that name is a story of friendship, care, hope, and the power of being heard.
Perhaps that is why we have always believed that some forms of strength cannot be fully explained in words. Some feelings of care can be sensed even across great distances. And when people genuinely care for one another, their collective voice can become more powerful than anyone might expect.
Over time, that belief became part of the spirit of JingJing.
We believe dragon boating is more than a sport. It is an experience created together. We train together, improve together, and laugh together. We enjoy the rhythm and power of paddling, the satisfaction of working toward a shared goal, and, above all, the genuine care and support between teammates.
To us, true team spirit means friendship and inclusion. It means giving your best while never forgetting the people beside you. Passion pushes us to challenge ourselves. Teamwork allows us to bring out the best in one another. And our commitment to improving our technique helps us become better each time we return to the water.
Joy, inclusion, friendship, passion, teamwork, and a continuous commitment to improvement—these are the values that define JingJing.
Although our first captain has retired from the team, we continue to carry her name with her blessing. In this way, JingJing has become a legacy that belongs to all of us.
JingJing is more than a name. It is a memory, a bond, and the shared voice of a group of people who continue to stand together.
One Name, One Family
When we call out, “Go, JingJing!” we are cheering for the teammates beside us, for the whole boat, and for ourselves.
Throughout the racing season, we are fortunate to receive support from sponsors and community partners, and we may compete under different sponsored names. That support helps us move forward, but it does not define who we are.
JingJing belongs to everyone who has contributed to this team. Whatever your profession and wherever you come from, once you take your seat in the boat, grip your paddle, and move forward with your teammates, you become part of JingJing.
Some members have moved to other cities. Some have stepped away because of work or family commitments. Others have returned to the boat after many years. Wherever life takes them, they continue to share one identity:
They are part of the JingJing family.
Everyone who has paddled with JingJing understands that each person is responsible for every stroke they take, but no one moves forward alone. Beside you are teammates who are ready to work with you, support you, and face every challenge together.

If you are in Ottawa, you are welcome to join us, whether or not you have ever paddled a dragon boat before.
All we ask is that you are willing to learn, ready to contribute, and open to becoming part of a team.
At JingJing, no one remains a spectator.
Once you join us, you become JingJing. Every effort you make in the boat adds strength to the name. Every cheer you give from shore makes this family a little warmer.
